Microsoft has gained worldwide popularity for its effectiveness in combating poverty alleviation and contributing to the development process in under resourced countries. Intially it was unheard of to lend money to the poor--to the poorest of the poor--and then a shock for many to relize just what a small amount of capital was necessary to bring positive changes to the lives of those living below the poverty line. Now the movement has gaines momentum and acceptance; brining it to the forefront of the field of development. This book brings the reader into the complexities associated with the growth and offers concrete and viable solutions for continued success in the future.
Dr. Mostaq Ahmmed, the author of this book, is currently working with ASA as Deputy General Manager of the information department, which also includes the microfinance training program at ASA. He received his M.S.S. degree in Political Science from the University of Dhaka in 1991. In 1993 he received his Master of LAw degree in International Relations and European Politics from the University of Liege in Belgium. Dr. Ahmmed successfully completed his Ph.D. in International Relations in 1996 from the University of Washington in the United States. This is his second book. He has also written many reviews and articles on various issues regarding Economic Development, Political Economy, European Politics, Civilization, and the European Community and Bangladesh.
